李潔瑤 Emily Li

Emily Li obtained her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in music from Hong Kong Baptist University and Chinese University of Hong Kong, major in composition. She was a lecturer and the handbell director in the Music Department of HKBU from 1997-2004. At present, she is the Artistic Director of Hong Kong Handbell Academy, Hong Kong Youth Handbell Ensemble (HKYHE), and The Clappers; Founder and Music Director of Gloves Handbell and Chairperson of Handbell Association of Hong Kong and principal guest conductor for Ministry of Bellz in Singapore. She is also a handbell soloist and a published composer. Her compositions were published in Hong Kong and the United States. 

 

Emily started ringing handbells in 1986 and has since developed an obsession with this instrument. She learned handbell solo from renowned soloists Christine Anderson, Nancy Jessup, and Nancy Hascall and has completed the Graduate Program in Handbells at Concordia University, Wisconsin. Emily had studied with handbell masters Kay Cook, William Payn, David Davidson, and Arnold Sherman in handbell performance, conducting, and composition. She has performed solo concerts in Baptist University and Radio 4. She collaborated with the composition Department of HKAPA in a composition project for handbell solo in 2012.

 

Having the mission to promote handbell ringing in Hong Kong, Emily resigned from the university in 2004. She founded the Hong Kong Handbell Academy, which provides handbell resources and professional training for the general public. Emily founded HKYHE in 2005 and started training handbell conductors and performers of the young generation. In 2006, she founded the Handbell Association of Hong Kong and organized the annual Hong Kong Handbell Festival. Under her leadership, the Association became a member of the International Handbell Committee in 2010. Hong Kong became the host city of the International Handbell Symposium in 2020. 

 

Emily actively participates in overseas handbell festivals to work and perform with great handbell masters. She has led her choirs to ring in various public performances and recordings for TVs, radios, and international conferences worldwide, where their performances were highly appreciated. These include the biennial International Handbell Symposium, Asian Youth Arts Festival in Kagoshima, and concerts in Taiwan, Singapore, Canada, UK, and the United States. Emily received invitations from The Handbell Musicians of America to perform a handbell solo concert (Cincinnati, 2012) and conduct the HK Youth Handbell Ensemble at the Final Concert (Portland, 2013).  She also served as the All-stars Choir (Atlanta, 2014) and Distinctly Teens (Grand Rapids, 2018) at the annual National Seminar in the United States. She was invited by Handbell Ringers of Great Britain to conduct the National Ring Week in Sheffield in 2015 and served as the massed ring conductor and workshop clinician at the 15th, 16th, and 17th International Handbell Symposium in Liverpool (2012), Jeju ( 2014) and Vancouver (2016). She serves as the International Conductor for the Youth Festival in the 18th International Handbell Symposium in Cairns (2018). Emily led the HK Youth Handbell Ensemble to perform in Finland and Estonia and share the stage with the world-renowned Arsis Handbell Ensemble in 2019. 

 

李氏畢業於香港浸會大學及中文大學音樂系,分別取得音樂學士及碩士學位,主修作曲。1997-2004年間曾任浸會大學音樂藝術系講師及其手鈴隊指揮,現任「香港手鈴藝術學院」及「香港青少年手鈴樂團」、「The Clappers」藝術總監,「白手黨手鈴隊」音樂總監、「香港手鈴藝術協會」主席及新加坡Ministry of Bellz 首席海外指揮。李氏亦為手鈴獨奏家及作曲家,其作品於香港及美國出版。

 

李氏於1986年開始接觸手鈴,自始結下不解之緣。先後隨著名獨奏家安德遜、積臣及夏斯高學習手鈴獨奏。亦曾遠赴美國協同大學修讀手鈴碩士課程,隨多位著名手鈴大師修讀手鈴演奏、指揮及作曲,其中包括琦曲、柏恩、尚爾曼及大衛遜。李氏曾於香港浸會大學、香港電台第四台舉行手鈴獨奏音樂會;又應邀於無線電視、廣西電視台、香港童聲合唱團音樂會中作獨奏表演。2012年與香港演藝學院作曲系合作,為7首本地作品作世界首演,為香港手鈴音樂發展寫下新的一頁。

李氏於2004年放下大學的教職,創辦「香港手鈴藝術學院」,專注推動本地手鈴之發展,為本港人士提供一個專門學習手鈴的途徑及資源中心。李氏分別於2005及2006年創立「香港青少年手鈴樂團」及「香港手鈴藝術協會」,致力推廣手鈴藝術教育、培育本地指揮及新一代青少年手鈴演奏家。2006年發起「第一屆香港手鈴節」,將手鈴藝術進一步推廣至更闊的層面。李氏經常於海外之手鈴會議及大師班中演出,又向外推廣本港之手鈴發展。2008年獲美國手鈴協會之邀請,於期刊《泛音》的教育專欄中發表文章《香港新一代手鈴發展》。2010年帶領香港手鈴藝術協會成功加入由英、美、日、韓、加拿大及澳洲組成的「國際手鈴議會」,成為該會自1985年成立後第七個成員國,使香港成為2020年世界手鈴大會之主辦城市。

李氏曾多次獲邀帶領各手鈴隊作過不同類型的錄音、錄影、現場演出及國際交流活動,其中包括每兩年一度的「世界手鈴大會」、「鹿兒島亞洲青少年藝術節」、「日本手鈴節暨亞洲藝術節」及於台灣、新加坡、加拿大、英國及美國巡迴音樂會。曾獲美國手鈴協會邀請於全國手鈴指揮研討會中分別擔任獨奏演出(辛辛加提,2012)、指揮香港青少年手鈴樂團演出閉幕音樂會(波特蘭,2013)、星級精英樂團指揮(阿特蘭大,2014)、精英青少年樂團指揮 (大急流城,2018);2015年獲英國手鈴協會邀請於謝菲爾特指揮全國手鈴節樂團;並先後於利物浦(2012)、濟州 (2014)及溫哥華(2016)擔任第十五、十六及十七屆世界手鈴大會之大合奏指揮。李氏於第十八屆世界手鈴大會之青少年手鐘節中擔任海外指揮 (開恩茲,2018)。2019年帶領香港青少年樂團前往芬蘭及愛莎尼亞廵廻演出,並與世界聞名的Arsis 手鈴樂團同台演出。

盧悅穎 Joyce Lo

Joyce Lo obtained her Bachelor Degree in Arts in Music Composition and Master Degree in Visual Arts in Art Administration from HKBU. She began learning handbell with Ms. Emily Li during her undergraduate studies and soon became a member of Hong Kong Baptist University Handbell Choir. Joyce had performed extensively and served as a committee member of the choir. She then joined Gloves Handbell in 2007 and participated in different handbell events and concerts. Joyce is currently the chairman of Gloves Handbell. 

 

Joyce actively engaged in music education and promotion of handbell into the musical mainstream. She became Hong Kong Handbell Academy (HKHA) tutor since 2006, and has been conductor of handbell teams from local schools. She leaded the teams to different performances and has been awarded several times in previous Hong Kong Handbell Festival (HKHF) School Handbell Competitions. Also, Joyce is one of the HKHF Mass Ring conductors in 2009 and 2010. Since 2009, Joyce further contributed to local youth handbell and music education by becoming a conductor of Hong Kong Youth Handbell Ensemble (YHE), and leaded the ensemble to perform in YHE concerts, HKHA Annual Concerts, and has been invited to give Christmas performance at the Hong Kong International Airport, shopping malls and community centres, and also for charity events.  

As an art administrator, Joyce has organised and coordinated various concerts and music events over the years. All smiles and clapping from audiences are the best motivation for her to keep on living life on life.

 

盧氏畢業於香港浸會大學,先後取得音樂學士及藝術行政管理碩士學位。修讀音樂期間,主修作曲,並隨李潔瑤女士學習手鈴,加入浸會大學手鈴隊及成為其籌委會成員,多次參與校內演出及籌辦音樂會。盧氏一直活躍於本地手鈴表演,積極推廣手鈴音樂,並於2007年加入白手黨手鈴隊,現為白手黨手鈴隊團長。

盧氏於2006年起為香港手鈴藝術學院導師,為本地多間中、小學之手鈴隊指揮,帶領各隊伍參與不同演出,更於歷屆香港手鈴節校際手鈴比賽奪得優異成績。2009年起,盧氏成為香港青少年手鈴樂團指揮,曾帶領樂團參與專場音樂會、香港手鈴藝術學院週年音樂會,又獲邀於香港國際機場、大型商場及社區會堂作聖誕演出,及慈善音樂會等,致力培養新一代手鈴演奏家。

身兼藝術行政人員,多年來盧氏統籌及策劃不同類型的音樂會及活動,以觀眾每個笑臉和掌聲成為最佳推動力,繼續以生命影響生命。
